John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Airport Information

(New York, New York - NY, USA)

One of the most famous airports in existence and currently the 15th busiest on the planet, John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) can be found roughly around 15 miles / 24 km southeast of downtown Manhattan and close to the suburban areas of Howard Beach, Jamaica Bay, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens and Woodmere. Often referred to as simply JFK, New York's premier air facility is also America's busiest international airport, and each year sees passenger traffic of around 45 million.

A range of transport options connect downtown New York's Manhattan island with JFK International Airport. These include iconic yellow cabs and shared-vans. Various bus services are also available here, including the Q10 Bus, New York Airport Express and Trans-Bridge Lines. Buses leave Kennedy Airport for Grand Central Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal every 30 minutes, also stopping at New York's Penn Railway Station.

Also located at JFK Airport is the AirTrain light-rail network, which ultimately allows passengers to travel all around Long Island and Manhattan. The airport also offers a free airport shuttle bus (both day and night), traveling to Howard Beach Station and offering excellent connections to the New York underground subway system. Consider purchasing a NYC Transit MetroCard to save money on both the subway and buses.

About New York Tourism

One of the most famous and influential cities on the planet, New York is both an important centre of finance and tourism. Despite its immense size and rather unruly layout, the city is relatively easy to find your way around and boasts the world's biggest mass transit network, otherwise known as the New York City Subway. Accommodation in the Big Apple need not be expensive, although if you are looking to stay in the heart of Manhattan or crave views of Central Park, be prepared to pay a little extra. New York City vacation rentals are becoming increasingly popular and include town house apartments and properties in areas such as Brooklyn, Harlem, Midtown and Soho.

Close to the famed suburbs of Kings and Queens, John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) is also near to the waterfront. JFK Airport is just a taxi drive from the incredible sights of the city centre, many of which are based around the Manhattan area and lend themselves to those taking New York Holidays. Be sure to bring your camera when you visit the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Staten Island, Times Square and the Rockefeller Center.
